Hail from campus to the IH-35 corridor
San Marcos has everything from rentals near Texas State University to long-held family homes on shingle roofs along IH-35. Central Texas hail storms hit all of them. If you are in the 78666 area, you may be looking at insurance paperwork, contractor estimates, and a roof you cannot see from the ground.
Hail Bender is owned by Sam. We inspect for free, document the damage, and replace roofs in one day using professional subcontractor crews, weather permitting. We collect your full deductible on every job, at completion, never upfront.
Why San Marcos homeowners call us
We stay on the right side of the rules. Some contractors offer to “cover” or “absorb” your deductible. That is illegal in Texas and it puts you and the contractor at risk. We collect the full amount at completion because that is what your policy and the law call for.
Whether you manage rentals near campus or you are raising a family in an established neighborhood, we know your time matters. Our crews finish most roofs in a day, so you are not living under a tarp or paying for a long, drawn-out job.
- A single point of contact: You know who to call.
- Free inspection: No cost and no obligation.
- Plain answers: We explain what we found and what it means.
The insurance claim process
We’re your roofer, not your adjuster. We bring the evidence and you stay in control of your claim.
- Free inspection and documentation. We photograph and measure the damage and give you a line-item estimate to share with your carrier.
- You file the claim. You report the damage to your insurance company. We can show you what information to have ready.
- We meet the adjuster on site. We walk the roof with them and show the damage and the scope of repairs.
- Approval, permits, and supplements. After approval, we schedule your install and pull permits as required. We send supplements for items that were missed or are required by code.
- One-day install and cleanup. The crew replaces the roof in a day, weather permitting. We clean up, and your deductible is collected at completion.
Recognizing hail damage on a San Marcos roof
Hail damage is not always obvious from the ground, especially on the composition shingle roofs common in the 78666 area. Here is what we look for:
- Granule loss: Hail knocks off protective granules and leaves bare spots that look like dark circles or random patches.
- Cracked or split shingles: Larger stones can crack shingles through and open a path for water.
- Dented gutters and downspouts: Often the easiest damage to spot from the yard.
- Damaged roof vents: Plumbing vents and ridge vents often show dents or cracks.
- Dented HVAC unit: If your outdoor AC has dents, your roof probably took hits from the same storm.
Even small damage can shorten a roof’s life and may affect your shingle manufacturer’s warranty. Good documentation is the first step either way.
Rentals and busy owners
Landlords near campus are often managing several things at once. We coordinate with tenants for access, keep the schedule tight, and keep you updated so you are not chasing us for information. Whether the home is your own or an investment, the claim process stays the same and the decisions stay yours.
San Marcos roofs, old and new
San Marcos mixes older homes close to downtown and campus with newer construction on the edges of town. Roof ages vary widely, and so does the way hail damage shows up. Older asphalt roofs often show it as bruising and bare spots. Newer ones may show small cracks.
- Check the rental roof too: Landlords often learn about damage from tenants. A quick walk-around after storms saves headaches.
- Gutters and AC units: Dents there are your early warning.
- Keep photos: Take dated pictures of anything you spot before it is cleaned up.
- Book a free inspection: We will tell you plainly what we see.
